When it comes to small business marketing tactics, a periodic communication (like a monthly newsletter) is very common. Not only are these types of emails a great way to keep in touch with your company's tribe, but they are often forwarded and shared around the web because the content is helpful for your audience. Some of you have wondered, "Wouldn't it be cool if I could organically grow my newsletter list when people share those emails?"
The answer is a resounding yes! And not just a yes to the actual question, but a yes to that type of social lead generation that already exists inside of Infusionsoft. However, the social sharing tools that come out of the box with Infusionsoft are not as well-known as we'd all like, which is why I am pretty jovial to share November's Campaign of the Month: Grow Your Newsletter With Social Sharing.
While the campaign above might look a little too simple, don't let that fool you. My experience with campaigns has shown that simpler sequences tend to drive bigger results—and this campaign is no exception. The concept is very easy: When someone views a shared newsletter link from a social channel, like Twitter, that person will see the original email and an opt-in form where they can sign themselves up for the next newsletter. By crafting the social opt-in form to speak in a very targeted manner to the visitor, it greatly increases the chance they will join the newsletter list on their own!
This form will appear next to the newsletter email when someone views the shared version of it.
Who can use it?
Any Infusionsoft customer can download the campaign from the Infusionsoft Marketplace. However, because this campaign is pre-configured for a newsletter that people can share, it would be best suited for people who are already running a newsletter or some type of periodic communication. (If you don't manage an email newsletter, you can still use this campaign. See below.) The campaign comes with a newsletter email template which is configured for the social lead generation form and sharing. All you have to do is put in your content and publish! If you already have a newsletter template with your branding and colors, you can still use this campaign; there are instructions in the out-of-the-box email which show you how to connect everything up to your existing layout.
What else should I know Paul?
The 40,000-foot idea is to allow people to share an email while crafting a targeted Web Form for anybody who might see that shared email, so this idea can be leveraged in many different ways:
- Have a video series? Add the social share snippet to the video delivery emails and have the social form say 'It looks like one of your buddies shared one of my videos! I'd love to send you the whole series, just tell me where to send them below...'
- Do events? Add the social share snippet to the event reminder emails and have the social form say 'It looks like one of your buddies is signed up for my upcoming event! I'd love to you attend as well, just tell me where to send the event details below...'
- Running a sales promotion? Add the social share snippet to the promotional emails and have the social form say 'It looks like one of your buddies shared one of my emails! I'd love to send you some more information about this product too, just tell me where to send the details below...'
Again, the idea is to make it easier for people to share, and make it easy for their social network to join whatever their friend is participating in. This campaign template should help you achieve this benefit faster because we've done all the technical setup for you!
