Last week was incredible. We had more than 3,000 people at ICON as we celebrated small business success. On my blog this week, I’ll share some of my highlights and reflections on ICON 2016, the 10th anniversary edition of our user conference.
This year was different, right from the beginning. The drumline that kicked off the event took everyone by surprise. I was backstage watching it and it was fun to see the reactions on people’s faces. The drummers brought a ton of energy to the show.
The next thing that was different was our host, Scott Harris. Scott wasn’t just an emcee; he coached the audience, encouraging them to follow the rules of life and play full out. He got people into the spirit of ICON and prepared the audience for personal growth and development throughout the event. I heard many positive comments throughout the event about how much personal development we brought to ICON this year… and our attendees appreciated it.
I followed Scott with my keynote address, recapping the great accomplishments of our collective customer base in 2015: 8.6 billion emails sent, 90 million contacts added to the database, 240,000 campaigns launched, and more than $2 billion processed through our e-commerce functionality. Pretty impressive!
I also introduced the Small Business ICON Finalists. It was fun to see all three finalists’ stellar growth rates and overall business improvement as they’ve implemented sales and marketing automation in their businesses. All three finalists—Nate Shaw, Bill and Charlotte Harney, and Stephanie Holmes-Winton—will be joining the company on our awards trip on a beautiful beach in the Caribbean. But there could only be one winner, and that winner was Nate Shaw, owner of The Brooklyn Music Factory.
Since using Infusionsoft, Nate Shaw has grown his business about 250 percent and hired several employees. Perhaps most significant, he’s reduced his time in the business by about half and he’s now able to enjoy a great business and a great life. That’s what it’s all about, folks!
SBS Idea of the Day: Do yourself a favor and sign up for ICON 2017 right now. It will be held next April 25–27. It truly is a can’t-miss event for entrepreneurs, just as Inc. Magazine said.
