The typical small business owner is often the company’s head of marketing, too. He struggles with finding new leads and customers, as well as with simply finding the time and resources to spend on marketing. And despite his efforts, he often doesn’t know whether his marketing strategy is working.
This is the state of small business marketing, according to a survey of more than 1,000 small business owners facilitated by Infusionsoft and LeadPages. For the 2016 Small Business Marketing Trends Report, we asked small business owners about their marketing tools and tactics, goals, and challenges ahead.
Here are a few of our findings:
- Nearly one in five small business owners don’t plan to use digital marketing in 2016
- 47 percent handle marketing efforts on their own
- Nearly half don’t know whether their marketing is effective—and 14 percent know it isn’t
But in addition to identifying small business marketing problems, the report also covers solutions that can help small business owners stay ahead of the competition—digital tools and strategies like email marketing, content marketing and marketing automation. We also include digital marketing predictions for 2016, exploring how successful small business owners will focus on areas like integration, data, and mobile marketing.
